This site provides information on the historic
people and culture of the Powhatan Confederacy.
Wahunsenacawh (or Powhatan) was the father of
Pocahontas and the paramount leader of the 30 to
34 Algonquian-speaking tribal nations of the 17th
century "Virginia Territory" indigenous alliance .
|We also provide information on the ancient
indigenous peoples of the Caribbean (the
Taíno and Carib) whose cultures, after October 11,
1492, had a lasting impact on the rest of the world.
Insights into cultures that later contributed to the
creation of a larger, multi-ethnic hemisphere that
came to be called the"New World" are also featured.
